So many sites are experiencing the resonating affects of Google’s latest update called Penguin. As frustrating and destructive to small businesses as Google’s algorithm updates can be, there are aspects of your website that might be causing it to lose rankings all on its own. This can be a shock to people who think that they are doing everything right with their site, but what many do not realize is that you have to make sure your on and off page SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is correct. This means being positive that the links you are using to build your site are credible, good links. Placing poor or spam filled links on your site may boost your rankings for the short term but eventually it will end up harming your site more than anything. Another aspect that can be disregarded is the content of your site. If you have quality, unique, and consistently fresh content on your website you will have a better chance of being stronger against the updates Google throws at you. The bottom line is before you blame Google for knocking your site out of the rankings, examine if there are aspects you can fix that will improve your site overall. Many times this will get your website on the right track again and hopefully fend off Google’s future updates.
