Eye Candy from Sagmeister & Walsh

A fairly sure-fire recipe for an appealing website is thick black lines, generous white space and stunning photographs. Add to that a distinct and provocative portfolio full of miniature dioramas, fully mechanical billboards and a number of environmental installation pieces exploring typography for the designers’ own pleasure.

Since I first learned about Stefan Sagmeister in design school, I’ve been following his work. He recently partnered up with young designer Jessica Walsh to open  a new studio in NYC, servicing clients like Levis, Adobe and BMW. Sagmeister’s completely outside-the-box approach to traditional design makes him an inspiration. His new partner seems to have similar philosophies  recommending that designers, “Do work you love and are passionate, look outside of the world of graphic design for inspiration.”
